The cost of a session is $150 for individual counselling, and $175 per session for couples counselling. There is limited opportunity for sessions billed on a sliding scale. Sessions are typically eligible for reimbursement by private insurance companies, if available.
I can help you with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship problems, stress management, anger management, parenting, personality disorders, and more. I will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your unique needs and goals.
The frequency of counseling sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may attend bi-weekly or monthly.
During a typical session we will check-in on your current mood, and then continue making progress towards the goals we have identified early in our relationship. It is a flexible approach that takes into account any urgent needs, current emotional state, and presenting problems. We decide together the right balance between developing skills and developing deeper understandings that will form a foundation for long-lasting change.
During the first few sessions, we will conduct an assessment to understand your concerns, history, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. You’ll identify the main issues or challenges you want to address. This might involve discussing specific symptoms, behaviors, or situations that are problematic for you. Then we will work together to define clear, achievable goals, and plan to accomplish those goals.
During therapy I employ a psychodynamic approach. Psychodynamic therapy is a form of talk therapy that focuses on how thoughts and feelings, as well as past experiences, influence your current behaviour and emotions.
The goal is to foster self-reflection and gain insight into one’s behavior and emotions and, through that, develop healthier coping and make more informed choices. It is common for me to use modalities such as CBT, DBT, and EFT during sessions.
I am available Monday - Thursday evenings and during the day on Saturday. Depending on where you are located, in-person sessions are available. Virtual appointments can be held for clients anywhere in Ontario.
